I am writing to ensure that the campus community is aware that the University Health Center (UHC) is offering free surveillance testing for all faculty, staff and students—just as we did last year. The only difference is that the location is at the Health Center, not Legion Field. We are open for appointments Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

We can accommodate up to 800 saliva tests per day, and walk-ups are always welcome. Surveillance tests are conducted outside the UHC, separate from students who are coming inside the clinic for symptomatic testing. There is plenty of room to park, and the whole process usually takes about 5-10 minutes. Samples are processed by the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories, and results are provided to clients within 24 – 48 hours.

As an added convenience, we periodically offer pop-up testing at locations around campus. Here is the schedule for satellite locations over the next two weeks:

  • Thursday, September 9: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tate Student Center West Lawn
  • Thursday, September 16: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tate Student Center West Lawn

Remember, too, that you can schedule an appointment online for your COVID-19 vaccination at the UHC. If you are fully vaccinated before October 15, you will be eligible to put your name in the drawing for one of 100 cash prizes of $1,000. The vaccines are safe and effective, and they offer our society’s best line of defense against this deadly disease. If you have not yet done so, I urge you to be vaccinated as soon as possible.
